of Volgograd Philharmonic Orchestra

  • 1954 - graduated from Moscow choir School A.Sveshnikov.
  • 1961- graduated from Kiev state conservatoire by P.Tchaikovsky by
    specialty opera symphonic conduction, class of professor M.Kanershtein.
  • 1959 - 1961 worked as conductor of Kiev choreographic school, opera
    studio of Kiev conservatoire, of the orchestra of Ukrainian radio.
  • 1961 - 1964 - study on post-graduate course of Leningrad conservatoire
    in class of E.Mravinsky (conduction), V.Salmanov (composition).
  • 1962 - 1968, 1985 - 1990 - conductor of honored collective of Russian
    Federation, Philharmonic orchestra of Leningrad philharmonic.
  • 1968 - 1977 - founder and chief-conductor of Ulianovsk Philharmonicðs orchestra.
  • 1969 - the 3rd prize at the 1st International competition of conductors
    "Fund of Gerbert fon Carayan" (West Berlin).
  • 1970 - conferred a title Honored Artist of Arts.
  • 1974 - 1985 - chief conductor of Leningrad Chamber orchestra
    of ancient and modern music.
  • 1987 - founder of Volgograd Philharmonic orchestra.
  • 1991 - 1996 - artistic director and chief conductor of Philharmonic
    orchestra in Odense (Denmark).
  • 1992 - conferred a title Peopleðs Artist of Russian Federation.
  • 1995 - chief conductor of Saratov Philharmonic orchestra.

In Serov repertoire there are more, than one thousand compositions, which represent practically all the music styles, epochs, schools and genres. By this conductor were performed all symphonies of Motsart, Beethoven, Schubert, Tchaikovski, enormous number of symphonic compositions of Russian and foreign composers of XVIII - XIX ages, music of modern composers. He has prepared more than 50 premieres of compositions of soviet composers, great number of compositions of modern foreign music were performed by Serov for the 1st time in USSR. He has recorded 47 discs and 25 CD with music of N.Rimski-Korsakov, P.Tchaikovski, D.Schostakovitch, F.Kulau, I.Nerholm and the others. The mastery of E.Serov is remarkable by the best qualities of St-Petersburg school. Inspired mastery, culture of gesture and professionally ensure him high authority on the concert stage of our country and abroad.
